Quote from: "langell"
I would like to apologize for being a weirdo fan the first time I met him.  It was a house show in Richmond, and my first show at that, so I dilly dallied by the door for ten minutes and then walked in. I am horribly shy! I didn't know anyone there and no one really knew who he was and he was just standing there in the living room, so I stared at my shoes and walked up and (having practiced many witty cool lines) said "Ummm... I love you"- that's it.  If that wasn't enough I walked in on him changing clothes and was so startled that I didn't even walk out, just stood there with my hand over my eyes and said something like "so...umm...yeah..ummm." I was so mortified that when I saw him at the New Jersey concerts that I made sure not to say a word. He was very kind though, a very nice guy.

Edit: what I wrote here originally was not something I would want to say. And I'm glad I never did.

edit again: Actually, what I said here was probably better than "this is completely arbitrary, but I've been meaning to ask you....do you like Hermann Hesse?"

i spose the thing i'd like to say most is that your music redifined the way i approach entertaining an audience.. i now try my best to get the crowd involved in anyway i can. either singing or clapping or just having conversations with them on stage.. but most of all, i would like to say that your music helped me cope with losing a woman that i loved dearly.. your songs were like sticky tape to mend a broken heart and were it not for them, i may have even killed myself a while ago. so i suppose the most important thing i have to say to jason webley is

"thank you"

Angus, I don't think it's cheesy at all. One of the great things about music is its ability to get into all the little empty places and fill them up. Smiley

yeah it is a wonderful thing... and as a musician, that would to me be the ultimate compliment from a fan because it would tell me... i've actually made a difference in someone elses life..

but thats my opinion and jason (or anyone else in fact) probably thinks differently... but hey thats why we love him Cheesy

p.s. thanks for reassurance..

Dear Jason!
When I saw you at the Troubador show a few months back, I could have sworn I recognized you but but couldn't care less because I was having such a great time pretending to be drunk, screaming along with your song I hardly knew.
Of course it hit me the next morning who you were (as I was nodding off in class). I didn't recognize you without your dress and Amanda Palmer attached to your hip.

anyways. i'm painfully sorry I missed Monsters of Accordion... my friend and I picked up the LA weekly the following Sunday and almost pissed ourselves when we saw your picture. It would have been amazing.

my main message here... ummm...
yes. you are a wonderful man! Come back to LA. and call me if you need a mediocre multi-instrumentalist on the road! I would happily throw away this life and just be freeee as Thoreau.

Love Love Love!

Dear Jason,

You have the most creative typing technique. Don't ever try to improve it.

I don't fancy myself a shy person, but reading through this thread I find I am not alone when I completely freeze if ever I see you face to face.

I've been listening to your music for long time; back before you got kicked out of Seattle Center, you roped me into your wacky world with a carrot on a string.

That was back before your four cycles between death and rebirth!

I'm a musician too, and when I heard you talking at the Oregon Country Fair on the day you couldn't perform cause your voice went out, I was very surprised to hear about some of your struggles.

I guess if anything you are a superhero in my mind, and I've been avoiding the inevitable process of learning to see you as a human being, who may very well be like me in some ways.

You've been a huge inspiration, and maybe if I see you again I might have more to say than "....."

But I love the magic that you've brought through the streets of Seattle; your concerts have been life changing and bond forging.  Thank you for everything.

Hmm.

Jason, I'd like to hang out with you after a concert.  Whenever you're around LA again.
